Wilderness Quest 2012 (Grades 9 - 12) $495

Wilderness Quest 2012 will plumb the depths of the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness of northern MN, one of the most natural and beautiful areas in the U.S. When Jesus needed to get away he went to the wilderness, so too can you. While no previous canoeing or camping experience is required, please know this is a rigorous camp with lots of paddling and portaging, but at the same time to balance things out, there is also lots of camp and free time as well. We’d love to have you join us as we venture out and into the wilderness! Leaders: Rev. Mark Geisthardt and Carrie Korb. (While this trip is in the boundary waters, a carpool will be established once all registrations are in.) * Ray Robinson Scholarship may be available for this trip.

Wild at Heart Training Trip! (Adult) 355

Are you filled with a spirit of adventure? Maybe interested in leading a trip into the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness for your own church youth or adult group? If so, this is the trip for you. Enjoy the beautiful wilderness, as you learn what it takes to plan and lead a wilderness canoe trip. No previous experience is needed as we will learn by doing. We will cover meal planning, equipment needs, trip routing, and safety concerns. Participants must be able to paddle a canoe for several hours at a time, portage canoes and full packs, and cope with the challenges that come with wilderness travel. Dorothy Wester will be our guide and has lifelong experiences leading youth and adult trips in the BWCAW. Contact her at 715-366-2847 or dorothy@uniontel.net for additional information. The trip will begin at the Lake Lucerne Camp at 9:00 am on Sunday and conclude with clean up at Lake Lucerne on Friday evening.

Wilderness Adventure (Adult) $355

Guided in the Spirit we will grow in Christian fellowship as we explore the portages traveled by ancient tribes and canoe lakes carved out of solid granite by the glaciers. This is a vigorous wilderness experience requiring reasonable strength. Desire for challenge and flexibility of spirit is the only experience necessary, as there will be long days of canoeing and need to carry canoes and full packs on the portages. For more information contact Laura Hutler, Program Director LHutler@ wisconsinumc.org. Leaders: Lake Lucerne Staff

Ladies only BWCAW (Adult) $245

This trip will find us setting up a base camp on beautiful Ensign Lake for three nights of relaxation, great wilderness food, and good companionship. We will do a lot of paddling and minimal portaging. Our retreat will begin at 3:00 PM at the Kawishiwi Ranger Station in Ely, MN. The next morning we will enter the BWCAW via Moose Lake. Once our base camp is set up; we will explore our wilderness world while facing the many challenges that come with wilderness adventure. Participants must be able to paddle the canoe in a variety of weather conditions and be able to lift and carry packs and canoes short distances. Contact Dorothy at 715-366-2847 or dorothy@uniontel.net for additional information. Leader: Dorothy Wester.
